Dmitriy and I decided to go on an impromptu day trip to Ottawa. In particular we were hoping to see the inside of Parliament, where the ceiling is covered in gold stuff that hangs down. Dmitriy’s parents got a new car that has all these cool crazy features and they let us use it for the day. One of the features is that it is semi-self driving. Below is Dmitriy experiencing the self-driving mode. When we got to Ontario we stopped for some poutine.
It was an extremely cold day. We walked for maybe 15 minutes and already were so cold it was hard moving our mouths to talk normally.
Here we are in front of parliament.
There is an always burning water-fire in the front. It was warm.
It turns out we got there too late to get inside the building, because they only let so many people in per day. We had to settle for a parliament selfie.
Then we ran into the visitor centre to huddle for warmth. Eventually we mustered the nerve to go back outside and went to the Natural History Museum, which was having this special exhibition on bugs. Here are some of the particularly cool displays.
And we saw some cools rocks too. Then we walked back to the car and headed home.
We got back just in time to have dinner with Dmitriy’s family.
